At Cargill we are proud to have a fully integrated process, which encompasses agriculture and farming through to primary and secondary processing. The company owned hatchery sites at Shobdon and Caynham form an important part of this internal supply chain, which allows Cargill to ensure the highest standards and efficiencies into the farms and processing sites.
The hatcheries employ approximately 60 people in total across a variety of management, transport, and factory / hatchery functions. They produce approximately 1.6 million chicks per week from both flock and company owned farms.
The hatchery supplies over 90 grow out farms where chicks are reared to the highest animal welfare and food safety standards. The rearing programmes vary widely from farm assured to freedom food and free range, allowing Cargill to meet a wide range of customer demands.
